The canvas is fine. The design motif was sourced from a magazine for lace patterns and used to create this composition. The stitch used for the designs was cross-stitch with double thread, while the stitch used for the background filling was cross-stitch with single thread. In Greek, this second single-thread cross-stitch is called “arachni” (spider) because it leaves a soft filling effect. The filling is done with gold thread.
