The canvas is fine. The design motif was sourced from a magazine for lace patterns and used to create this composition.
The stitch used for the designs was cross-stitch with double thread, while the stitch used for the filling was cross-stitch with single thread. This second single-thread cross-stitch is called “arachni” (spider) in Greek because it creates a soft filling effect. The filling is done with gold thread.
