This constitutes one of the artist’s most important works.
The reason is that she transferred the design from a carpet. To achieve this, since it cannot be done from the pile on the front side, the artist “read” and counted the pattern from the back side of the carpet. Consequently, recreating the design on a different scale and canvas required tremendous effort and time.
The canvas is medium. The design motif includes improvisation to make it “fit” the embroidery frame. Moreover, the improvisation involves the final placement and arrangement of the central subjects depicted and their repetition. The filling is dark gold. The choice of colors was entirely personal.
